Camarillo Airport expansion and Air 7 hangar proposal
Speakers warned that a pending county airport lease with Air 7 could add roughly 30 new jets, thousands of overflights over Old Town, and 16 large jet hangars that would displace existing general aviation tenants at double or triple the rent.
Immigration Enforcement and Local Policy Concerns
Speaker after speaker described ICE/HSI sightings around town and criticized the council for refusing to cooperate with the Ventura County Community Foundation's immigrant relief fund. The council has no legal authority to act but remains the target of community appeals.
Camarillo Wine & Spirits Conditional Use Permit
A new neighborhood market at 570 Lewis Road requested a permit to sell beer, wine, and liquor. Commissioners reviewed security measures, parking controls, and floor plans to ensure it fits well with the surrounding apartments and townhomes.
City Manager and Executive Compensation
The council approved a 7% salary increase for City Manager Greg Ramirez, aligning his pay with regional county standards and local employee raises.
Council Meeting Cancellation and Governance
The Camarillo Council on Aging was unable to hold its May meeting because not enough board members showed up. This delays important updates about senior programs, budget reports, and recruitment.
